My Favorite Ways To Meditate - 3 Different Ways

Well, hello Saturday and hello beautiful readers! Today I am coming to you with some of my favorite ways to dive deep into meditation. I recently have been combining my meditation practice with my time with God and it is amazing. Who better to give you that peace and mindfulness you need rather than God himself! So excited to be entering my first blog post on my brand new and updated website for all of you to read! Lets get started. :)

1. Meditate On Scripture (Literally)

One of my new ways of meditating is to literally find a passage you want to read whether that's something random you chose or digging through The Bible to find the right one for you in that moment. (PS. I am including a photo of one of my favorite "emergency Bible verse" photos I find on Pinterest, because they are SO beyond handy). Once I find the passage or verse I want to read I go through and find a key word or phrase that sticks out to me in that moment!

For example:

Psalms 94:19 says "When my anxieties multiply, your comforting calms me down."

What an AWESOME verse to meditate on. To close your eyes, play some nice instrumental yoga music, and repeat that to yourself a few times. To really imprint that into your mind! *Don't forget to breathe deeply and slowly. Meditation is all about connecting the breathe to the body and calming the mind down. So try not to think about anything else, besides that word of phrase you chose to concentrate on!*

2. The "Abide" App

THIS right here is my new discovery in the App store on my iPhone! It's literally a Christian meditation app that uses God and His word to help you meditate. It gives numerous different meditations that use verses and a guiding voice as well as music and peaceful sounds to guide you in your meditations! Such a great find and the meditations are FREE.

3. Acts of Worship

Now, people sometimes get confused when they think about "worship". I used to think when I was younger that worship was singing songs to God and that's it! It wasn't until I was much older that I realized worship can be shown through everyday acts of life. Whether that's working efficiency at your day job, being kind to the people you come across, or exersicing and eating healthy because God wants us to honor the body we were given. All of these are acts of worship and we are given chances EVERYDAY to either use them as acts of worship to God or to do them sloppily and not with a purpose.

HOWEVER! Worshiping with the mindset of meditation I think is such a great way to think about it. Centering your mind around being in the presence of God when you're performing these peaceful tasks is so rewarding. It can be through singing those worship songs or praising Him through your peaceful yoga flows, going for runs to clear your mind, or laying still on your bed for a few moments. All of these can be acts of worship when you place yourself at the feet of Jesus and really center your mind on the presence of God.

Thank you so much for reading along for today! I am so beyond happy to be sharing more on my site and to really connect with all of you reading. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Sundays Are For Snoozing

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. Exodus 20:8-10

I've learned over the past few weeks as season starts to kick its way into high gear, that I am very much an introvert. Being around people in 7 shifts in 5 days during the week starts to get very overwhelming for me. I started getting cranky and sleepy and found myself just being annoyed by every human contact in general. Learning that, yes I love people. I love being around people and spending time with others, but especially during these busy months it's important to learn that we all need to pause and give a break to ourselves. Everyone needs a moment to collect themselves. To rest. To recover from the very long week.

We all get so caught up in having busy lives or multiple jobs that we forget that yes life can be great in the business of life, but in order to be our best selves it's important to relax. So when your busy schedule is pulling you all which ways these holiday's, remember to set aside one day in your week to just relax. To spend some alone time with yourself and God. To read, write, sleep, binge watch those episodes you've been missing, and to do those unwinding things your body and mind needs.

It is SO needed that the Bible encourages rest so many times!

Then he said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." Mark 2:27

I recently bought three different Christian books to start reading. One of them being The Story. Which is The Bible paraphrased into 31 chapters. It's to be read like a novel. I have never heard of something like this. I am only on Chapter 2, but what a good way to rest. Reading the stories of God and His people. Next time Sunday (or the end of your work week) rolls around turn on some worship music, throw your hands in the air, and rest in His arms. Read the comforting words of God. Share these special moments with your loved ones or simply be  alone in His presence. It is so important to gather the rest you need to start up the busy week once again.

Enjoy the Christmas season. Give a lot, but don't forget to give to yourself, too! <3
